What to Expect From Class

Gracie Jiu Jitsu (or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) incorporates defenses against punches, kicks and other attacks.  Gracie Jiu Jitsu is know  primarily as a “grappling” or "ground fighting" art and competitive sport due to its success in countless MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) events but Jiu Jitsu is a complete art and addresses a wide range of martial skills, from throws and takedowns to strikes and weapon defense.

The Gracie Jiu Jitsu philosophy is to neutralize a stronger person's advantage by taking them down to the ground.  Using the ground to move your body will allow you to apply leverage and sound body mechanics to take yourself out of inferior positions or reverse or sweep your opponents on to their back and ultimately submit your opponent.

An old saying of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is “The ground is my ocean and I am the Shark….and most people do not even know how to swim”.

Take the time to get comfortable on the mats and enjoy this fun and healthy lifestyle while learning real tested and proven self-defense.
